Grass always looks greener on the other side

Often we feel that other people have it easier then us. Srila Prabhuapda writes in this respect:

"We should follow the path of devotional service and not be dissatisfied with the happiness and distress. In conclusion we should be satisfied in whatever position we have been put by the Supreme Personality of Godhead." (SB 5.1.15)

Everything is in the hands of the Supreme Lord and we are His servants. As devotees, He is arranging all our different situations, which are meant to purify us and bring us closer towards His lotus feet.

Some examples of short-term pain for long-tem gain:
  • an expert physician who dispenses a vaccination by injection.
  • a thoughtful well-wishing father who sends his young son to school (to learn how to read and write) even though the son wants to just play all day.
So the Supreme Lord also arranges things in such a way that we become purified. Sometimes these arrangements appear troublesome at that time. However, in hindshight we see that Krishna is preparing and strengthening us for this and our next lives. Ultimately, it's all for our purification and it's Krishna's love and kindness upon us.
