A person in the:
- Mode of ignorance gives up duty due to laziness.
- Mode of passion gives up duty when it becomes troublesome.
- Mode of goodness carries out his duty regardless, in order to become free from material bondage.
- Mode of transcendence has no duty, but spontaneously serves Krishna and all living entities as part and parcel of Krishna.
